A leading contender for character of the day on the internet this week was a man named Jude Cook, who announced plans to launch a publishing house focused on writers just like him: men. The publisher will, for some reason, be called Conduit.

I guess Jude hasn’t been on a dating app, or been a woman on one. I’m not a fan, but possibly the greatest first move, “weeding out” question to ask a man on the apps is this: What was the last great book you read? The answers will alarm, disgust, and probably not surprise you.
